MZI Matriculation 2026: Mount Zion Institute and Redeemer’s University Write History Together

MZI Matriculation students 2026

Script of the Future

The MZI Matriculation 2026 was the sort of event that makes one wonder why heaven did not schedule a public holiday for the occasion.

On Tuesday, 26th May 2026, the Mount Zion Institute of Christian Drama (MZI), Ile-Ife, in partnership with Redeemer’s University (RUN), Ede, accomplished something that had never been done before in the annals of Nigerian Christian theatre education. They held a combined matriculation ceremony covering not one, not two, but three academic sessions: 2023/2024, 2024/2025, and 2025/2026.

Yes, you read that correctly. Three sessions. One ceremony. No one fainted.

For students who had been waiting patiently, others with the quiet desperation of a prophet watching for a delayed dawn – the MZI Matriculation 2026 was the moment when years of faith finally received a receipt stamped “Delivered.”

Why This Matriculation Mattered

Let us be honest. Matriculation ceremonies are not typically known for their emotional voltage. There are gowns. There are processions. There is usually a very long speech about regulations. But the MZI Matriculation 2026 refused to follow that script.

Far from reciting oaths and commitment regularities, the combined matriculation of Mount Zion institute of Christian Drama was about the formal recognition of literature’s sub-genre; Christian drama as a legitimate academic discipline within a mainstream Nigerian university. For decades, those called to Theatre Arts (Christian Drama) have laboured under the suspicion that their craft was either “just church work” or “not serious enough for a degree.” The collaboration between MZI and Redeemer’s University has quietly, and now very publicly, retired that nonsense.

Who Graced the Occasion

The MZI Matriculation 2026 drew an impressive delegation from Redeemer’s University, including:

  • Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, Vice-Chancellor (represented – because even Vice-Chancellors cannot be in two places at once, much as they might try)

  • Professor Olumide Ekanade, Dean, Faculty of Humanities

  • Professor Babatunde Adedibu, Chairman, RUN Collaboration and Linkages

  • Dr. J.O. Fashola, Head of Department, CRS & Philosophy

  • Dr. D.M. Babarinde, Head of Department, Theatre Arts

From Mount Zion Institute of Christian Drama, the leadership present included:

  • Evangelist (Dr.) Yemi Adepoju, Deputy Director

  • Professor Olalekan Jesuleye, Provost

  • Mr. Covenant Adebayo, Registrar

Add to this assembly a hall full of staff, students, and well-wishers, and you had the kind of crowd that makes fire marshals nervous and photographers overjoyed.

An Atmosphere That Defied Academic Stereotypes

One does not normally associate matriculation ceremonies with electric atmospheres. One normally associates them with polite clapping and the quiet rustle of order of service pamphlets. The MZI Matriculation 2026, however, was different.

The venue was charged with praise, prayer, and an unmistakable sense that the Lord Jesus Christ was not merely acknowledged but celebrated. Songs were sung. Hands were raised. Excitement roared. At several points, one could be forgiven for forgetting whether this was a university ceremony or a thanksgiving service. The answer, of course, is that it was both. And neither seemed to mind.

A Dream Realised, A Visioneer Honoured

No account of the MZI Matriculation 2026 would be complete without honouring the man whose sleep-ridden nights and sacrifices made it all possible. Evangelist (Dr.) Mike Bamiloye, the founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries and the visioneer of MZI, has spent over three decades proving that Christian theatre is not a lesser art but a prophetic vessel.

He has been told that Christian drama would never be taken seriously. He has been told that no university would ever collaborate with a drama ministry. He has been told many things. Happily, he has a long history of not listening to the wrong voices.

On 26th May 2026, his life’s work received a public validation that no critic can undo. The MZI Matriculation 2026 was, in many ways, his victory as much as the students’.

Gratitude and a Gentle Reminder

To every parent who paid school fees when the bank account was weeping, to every pastor who endorsed this vision when it was still small enough to be ignored, and to every friend of MZI who prayed when praying felt like the only thing left to do: thank you.

The MZI Matriculation 2026 is your victory as well.

And to prospective students who may be reading this: the doors are now more open than ever. If you believe that Theatre Arts (Christian Drama) is your calling, MZI is ready for you. The collaboration with Redeemer’s University is not a distant promise rather it is a working reality.
